A user in an institution where an OMERO.server instance is already installed and functioning only requires the appropriate client to access OMERO.
The OMERO server and client major versions must match, e.g. only 5.0.0-beta1 clients with the 5.0.0-beta1 server.
The tables below summarize the latest downloads (client & server) for each major release of OMERO. Refer to the following sections for more information about each release.
After downloading the relevant files, you may want to take a look at our OMERO 5.0.0-beta1 online documentation page or PDF documentation.
OMERO.clients is a package including OMERO.insight, OMERO.importer and OMERO.editor. All clients are completely written in the Java programming language but require version 1.5 or higher.
Your installation can also make use of OMERO.web as an alternative client through which you or your users may access their data (see OMERO.web deployment for Unix based platforms or Microsoft Windows). OMERO.web includes Java Webstart for the OMERO.insight client.
For the OMERO ImageJ plugin to work, uncompress the download and put the entire folder under the ImageJ/Fiji plugins folder. If you are using ImageJ1, you must also have loci_tools.jar installed in the ImageJ/plugins
folder. It is available for download under Products > Bio-Formats. (Note: if you are testing ImageJ2 then you should NOT add loci_tools.jar)
For the OMERO Matlab plugin to work, follow the instructions indicated here.
